Dr. Y. Anthony Nakamura, a board-certified plastic surgeon and recognized expert in plastic surgery and body contouring, offers Voluma® injections to the residents of Arlington, Dallas Fort Worth, and the surrounding communities in Texas.
What Is Voluma®?
Voluma® is an injectable gel designed for deep penetration in the cheeks to restore the loss of volume associated with aging. It is the first injectable that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved for instantly correcting volume loss in the cheeks in adults who are 21 or older.
Your cheeks become flatter, and your skin may begin to sag as you get older, but Voluma® can temporarily restore the lost volume. The Voluma® formula contains modified hyaluronic acid, which is obtained from a complex sugar that is naturally present in your skin. You start losing hyaluronic acid during the aging process, and the result is reduced skin structure and volume, which contributes to the development of folds and wrinkles. The injections produce an instant, natural lift that can last for up to two years.
Voluma® Benefits
There are several benefits that Voluma® can provide:
- Achieves instant results that are subtle and look natural.
- Contains lidocaine to improve comfort during injections.
- Does not require surgery.
- Can be performed during an in-office visit.
- Lasts for up to two years, which is longer than other dermal fillers.
- Produces optimal results with only one treatment.
- Reduces fine lines, folds, and wrinkles.
- Requires little recovery time.
What Is the Voluma® Difference?
The main difference between Voluma® and other dermal fillers is that it is the first and only to achieve FDA approval for instantly adding volume to the cheeks. It corrects volume loss associated with aging and creates contour and subtle lift so that you look younger. Voluma® also lasts longer than other dermal fillers.
Is Voluma® Right for Me?
The FDA has only approved the injection of Voluma® for people who are 21 or older. However, it is not approved for people who have a history of severe allergic reactions, such as anaphylaxis or are allergic to lidocaine or the proteins that are used in the Voluma® formula to make hyaluronic acid.
If you notice that your cheeks are becoming flattened or are sagging, talk to Dr. Nakamura about undergoing Voluma® treatment. Make sure that you tell him if you are breastfeeding, pregnant or have a history of pigmentation disorders or excessive scarring. Also, tell him about any and all medications that you take that could prolong bleeding or hinder the immune response of your body.
How Is Voluma® Treatment Performed?
The first thing that Dr. Nakamura and his team will do is clean the injection area. The formula for Voluma® contains lidocaine, which is a numbing agent that reduces discomfort. This is particularly helpful if you are sensitive to injections because the treatment does not require any other analgesic. However, Dr. Nakamura can apply a topical analgesic to further reduce any discomfort that you feel.
Next, Dr. Nakamura will inject Voluma® into your cheeks with a needle. He will base the number of injections that he administers on the size of your cheeks, the severity of your condition and the results that you want to achieve. Afterward, he may gently massage the injection sites. Immediately following the treatment, you will notice additional contour, lift and volume in your cheeks.
Recovering From Voluma® Injections
Most people can return to their normal routine after just 24 hours of treatment. This is because Voluma® injections can be administered during an office visit and do not require surgery. During the recovery window, it is recommended that you avoid extended sun exposure as well as strenuous exercise.
How Much Does Voluma® Cost?
The cost for your Voluma® treatment will vary depending on how many injections Dr. Nakamura uses to achieve the results that you desire. During your consultation, he will discuss this cost with you.
