Breast lift surgery is a popular procedure for women who are the unfortunate victims of age and gravity. At some point in your life, your breasts will begin to sag and lose volume. While the procedure is not for everyone, many women who have undergone the procedure have satisfying outcomes. The procedure can often boost your self-confidence and give you a better self-image.

What is a Breast Lift?

A breast lift is a plastic surgery procedure that uplifts and alters your overall breast shape. While it won’t increase the size of your breasts, the procedure will give the breasts more volume, reduce sagging, and give the breasts a more firm and rounded appearance.

During the breast lift procedure, you will be placed under general anesthesia. The plastic surgeon will then make incisions and use state-of-the-art techniques to remove loose skin and reshape the breast area. The entire procedure usually lasts between two to three hours.

Breast Lift Recovery Tips

Once the procedure is over, the surgeon will cover your breasts with gauze and you will be required to wear a surgical support bra during recovery. In some cases, small tubes will be put around the incision site to drain excess blood and fluids from your surgery. Your breasts will be swollen and sore for a couple of weeks. The following is a list of tips you should follow to aid in a smooth recovery:

1. Make sure you have a schedule already set up so that you don’t need anything post-surgery. You need to be in a stress-free environment so you can recover as quickly as possible. Make sure you have prescriptions, meals already prepped, and anything else you can think of so you won’t have to do last-minute runarounds.

2. Be very gentle with your incision area. You must follow your surgeon’s protocol and make sure the area stays clean and dry. For the first few days, you should avoid showering altogether. Pat the area dry and do not remove scabbed areas.

3. Use the compression garments. They help support the breasts post-surgery and offer great protection.

4. Watch out for any complications. This is very important. If you feel or notice anything out of the ordinary, you should inform your doctor immediately. Infections and internal bleeding are uncommon but can happen.

5. Eat healthy and drink plenty of water. The more nutrients you get into your body, the faster the healing process.

6. Communicate with your doctor. Let them know if you have any questions or concerns about the procedure. They will be there for you throughout the process and can put your mind at ease and offer a great deal of support.
