Discover the Power of Chemical Peels in Arlington, Texas

Posted on November 4, 2024November 4, 2024 by Dr. Y Anthony Nakamura

When you look in the mirror, do you notice aging, dry, dull, or uneven skin? If so, you are not alone! Our skin is exposed to the sun’s UV rays and other environmental factors daily. Plus, our collagen stores reduce as we age, which can leave us with a dry and dull complexion. This fall, Accent On You invites you to experience the transformative power of chemical peels, a non-invasive treatment that can reveal your skin’s natural radiance.

What Are Chemical Peels?

Chemical peels are cosmetic treatments that use a solution to remove the top layers of skin, revealing fresher, younger-looking skin underneath. These treatments can address a variety of skin concerns, including:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Sun damage
  • Acne scars
  • Hyperpigmentation

At Accent On You, we offer a range of chemical peels, including TCA peels and an assortment of MicroPeels, which are tailored to meet your unique skin needs and goals. In as little as one chemical peel treatment session, you can start to see more evenly toned, glowy skin.

Why Get a Chemical Peel During the Fall Months?

Chemical peels can help to reverse the effects of summer sun exposure, including dark spots and uneven texture. With shorter fall days and slightly cooler temperatures, your skin is less likely to be exposed to harsh sunlight, reducing the risk of further sun damage. Plus, if you start your treatments now, you can achieve glowing skin just in time for holiday gatherings and photos!

Get Your Glow On with Our Chemical Peels

At our medspa, we are proud to offer several types of peels to suit different skin types and concerns. Our experienced skincare professionals will help you choose the right peel for your skin type and goals.

  • TCA Peels: A medium-depth peel that penetrates deeper into the skin to treat moderate wrinkles, sun damage, and hyperpigmentation. TCA peels promote collagen production and skin renewal, resulting in a smoother, more even complexion.
  • MicroPeel: A light chemical peel that combines physical exfoliation with mild acids to remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells, improving skin texture, tone, and clarity. It’s ideal for individuals with sensitive skin or those seeking a gentle treatment.
  • MicroPeel Plus: A step up from the traditional MicroPeel, this treatment uses salicylic acid to target acne, large pores, and rough skin. It helps unclog pores, reduce breakouts, and improve overall skin tone while offering a deeper exfoliation.
  • MicroPeel with Cryogenic Therapy: This treatment includes a MicroPeel followed by cryogenic therapy, where carbon dioxide is applied to the skin to cool and soothe, reduce inflammation, and enhance the peeling process. It’s ideal for improving texture and tone and minimizing pore size.

Benefits of Chemical Peels: Beyond Skin-Deep

The advantages of chemical peels extend far beyond surface-level improvements. Not only will you have boosted confidence levels from your approved skin appearance, but with proper skincare, these results can be long-lasting. For enhanced results, chemical peels can be combined with other treatments such as microdermabrasion, microneedling, and other medspa treatments. This multi-faceted approach can address various skin concerns simultaneously, providing you with optimal results. Our skincare experts can create a comprehensive treatment plan tailored to your skincare needs!

Preparing for Your Chemical Peel

To ensure the best possible outcome from your chemical peel, our team may have you take the following steps prior to your chemical peel treatment. These steps will ensure the best results and minimize any potential side effects.

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning for at least two weeks before your peel.
  • Discontinue the use of retinoids and exfoliating products as directed.
  • Stay hydrated and maintain a healthy skincare routine.
  • Inform us of any medications or skin conditions.

Post-Peel Care for Optimal Results

There are also some steps you should take after your chemical peel to help ensure the best possible results! These steps include:

  • Protect your skin from sun exposure.
  • Keep your skin hydrated.
  • Avoid picking or peeling your skin.
  • Use gentle, fragrance-free skincare products.

Spring Rejuvenation: Refresh Your Look with Non-Surgical Cosmetic Treatments

Posted on April 4, 2024April 4, 2024 by Dr. Y Anthony Nakamura

With spring just around the corner, you may be thinking of ways to refresh your look without going under the knife. Look no further than Accent On You! Let’s explore some of the nonsurgical cosmetic treatments we offer at our Arlington, Texas office.

Non-Surgical Cosmetic Treatments

Whether you don’t want to go under the knife or you’re simply looking for treatment with no downtime, our nonsurgical and minimally-invasive treatments, are perfect for you. Some of the nonsurgical treatments you can take advantage of include:

Sculptra

With a complete selection of injectable fillers available, we offer plenty of choices at Accent On You. Sculptra is just one option. It’s a popular choice for those looking to rejuvenate their face without any downtime. This injectable adds volume where needed and is made up of poly-L-lactic acid, which stimulates the skin’s natural collagen production to give you a younger-looking appearance. The results can last for two years or more!

Dysport

Worried about fine lines and wrinkles? Dysport is an injectable neuromodulator that utilizes botulinum toxin type A to temporarily stop the muscles that cause fine lines and wrinkles from contracting. We’ll inject multiple points throughout the face to address any and all areas you’re struggling with.  You’ll notice your lines and wrinkles starting to fade away only a few days after treatment.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are widely used to treat sun damage, brown spots, fine lines and wrinkles, acne, and so much more. If you’re dealing with skin concerns on your face, this is the perfect quick and simple treatment for you. A chemical peel can improve collagen production, assist in hydrating the skin, and reduce the appearance of blemishes or scars. In the winter, Accent On You offers several types of chemical peels, including:

  • TCA Peels
  • MicroPeel

Salt Facials

The SaltFacial is a 3-in-1 treatment that exfoliates, increases blood circulation, and stimulates collagen production to give you beautiful, younger-looking, and rejuvenated skin. During the treatment, the esthetician will use the SaltFacial device to gently blast salt across the skin. It’s very similar to microdermabrasion but using all-natural sea salt. Ultrasonic energy will also be used to stimulate blood flow, and  LED Phototherapy is used to stimulate collagen production, target acne, and soothe inflammation and redness.

Microneedling

Microneedling is a treatment for stimulating collagen production. It involves making micro-wounds in the skin, which kickstart collagen production and the body’s natural healing process. It can treat fine lines and wrinkles, sagging skin, and uneven skin tone and texture. Most patients undergo a series of four to six microneedling treatments spaced four to six weeks apart for optimal results.

10 Tips for Your First Chemical Peel

Posted on February 15, 2023 by Dr. Y Anthony Nakamura

There’s no better way of rejuvenating your skin than a chemical peel. If you’ve never undergone a chemical peel, then it can cause some nervousness – no need to worry! Chemical peels are an extremely safe and effective skincare treatment in the hands of a board-certified plastic surgeon. Here’s what to know about chemical peels and what you can expect from your aftercare process.

1. Skip Cosmetics and Harsh Products

After your chemical peel, it’s best to avoid wearing makeup or using harsh skincare products while your skin recovers. Depending on the depth of your peel this may be anywhere from a few days to weeks. Once you begin wearing makeup again, start out with light mineral products that won’t irritate or clog the skin.

2. Be Patient – Excellent Results Take Time

It takes time to see the full results of your chemical peel. Not only does a chemical peel get rid of dead and damaged skin cells, but it can also stimulate the production of healthy new collagen. Depending on your unique treatment, it can take a few days or weeks to see the compounding benefits of a chemical peel.

3. Stay Away from High Temperatures

Hot environments like showers, hot tubs, or saunas can irritate the skin after your chemical peel, so they’re best avoided. Additionally, when you cleanse your face, avoid using hot water. Hot temperatures can also damage and strip the skin’s natural moisture, causing it to dry out and compromising your results.

4. Sunscreen is a Must

Sun protection is essential every day, and even more so when you undergo cosmetic treatments like a chemical peel. Going without sunscreen can come with a much higher risk of hyperpigmentation, so make sure to apply sunscreen of at least SPF 30 every day.

5. Adjust your Skincare Routine

After a chemical peel, it’s best to stick to gentle, unscented cleansers and moisturizers. If you have any active ingredients in your skincare regimen, it’s best to consult your skincare specialist or skip them altogether until your skin is healed. If you use prescription-strength retinols, you’ll need to avoid them ahead of your procedure, too.

6. Know When to Schedule Your Next Appointment

Chemical peels work best as a package of treatments to continually treat your concerns. However, the length of time between peels will depend on their strength. For surface-level peels, you may be able to schedule appointments monthly. For deeper peels, it may be longer. Make sure to consult your skincare specialist about when to come back for your next treatment.

7. The Skin Will Peel

As the name suggests, chemical peels will cause your skin to peel. This typically begins after a few days, depending on the depth of your peel. As for how long peeling lasts, it can also depend on your unique treatment. It may be only a couple days or could last for a week.

8. There May Be “Frosting”

Certain kinds of chemical peels can produce an effect called “frosting.” This isn’t something to worry about – it’s simply the skin reacting to the chemical solution after your treatment. However, if you’re concerned about your skin’s appearance in relation to social activities after your procedure, it may be best to reschedule.

9. Several Chemical Peels Deliver Maximum Results

For some patients, a single chemical peel can produce substantial results. However, you may need a few appointments to fully treat your concerns. Make sure to stick to your skincare specialist’s recommendation based on your unique goals.

10. Discuss Side Effects

There’s an assumption that chemical peels are painful and that the side effects are severe. This isn’t always the case – after mild peels, for example, you may simply experience some slight peeling like sunburn. For deeper peels, peeling, flaking, and crusting may be more significant. Make sure to discuss what you can expect from your peel during your appointment with our team.

Med Spa Offerings at Accent On You

Posted on April 25, 2022April 14, 2022 by Dr. Y Anthony Nakamura

Are you looking for a non-surgical solution for your dull or aging complexion? If so, we have a large selection of med spa treatments available at Accent On You in Arlington, TX to help you look and feel your best! Read on to learn more about these treatments and how they can benefit you.

Facials and Chemical Peels

When you look in the mirror, are you pleased with your complexion? If your answer is “no”, then it may be time to try out a facial or a chemical peel. At our office, the Accent On You Signature Facial is our most popular choice, with a variety of specialized cleansers, masques, vitamins, steam, and more to help address your skin needs. We also perform dermaplaning and extractions to remove any dead skin cells, unwanted peach fuzz, and clogged pores for a radiant complexion.

Individuals who are particularly unhappy with the appearance of sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, or a dull complexion can benefit from a chemical peel. We offer a selection of chemical peels to address your skin goals, including TCA Peels to treat sun damaged skin, and MicroPeels to address fine lines and wrinkles, dullness, acne breakouts, and more.

Injectable Treatments

Injectable treatments are an effective solution to many signs of aging such as lines and wrinkles, loss of facial volume, and thinning lips. At Accent On You, we offer many different injectable treatment options to combat unwanted signs of aging. Our selection includes:

  • Juvéderm®: This hyaluronic acid-based filler is injected under the skin to smooth out lines and wrinkles and folds in the midface.  It can also be used to restore lost volume in the midface and augment the lips. Depending on the treatment area, results can last for one year.
  • Restylane®: Restylane® is also a hyaluronic acid filler that is formulated to restore volume in the nasolabial area as well as add fullness to the lips. Results can last up to six months.
  • Restylane® Silk: This formula was created specifically for sensitive areas such as the undereye troughs, acne scarring, and cheek depressions. It can also be used to augment the lips.
  • Botox®: Botox® is a neuromodulator and works by temporary relaxing the treated muscles so that they cannot contract and cause lines to form. The most common areas treated with Botox® include the forehead, crow’s feet, and frown lines. Results can last from 3-6 months.
  • Dysport®: Dysport® is also a neuromodulator and works similarly to Botox®. Results can last 3-6 months.
  • Voluma®: Voluma® is a dermal filler in the Juvéderm® family that can effectively restore age-related volume loss in areas like the cheeks while also augmenting the lips. Results can last up to two years depending on the area treated.
  • AquaGold® Fine Touch™: This treatment creates controlled wounds in the skin to kickstart the collagen response while also delivering injectable treatments into the deeper layers of the skin for more complete results.

Microneedling

Microneedling is a treatment performed to address lines and wrinkles, scars, sun damage, and other aging concerns. During treatment, a special tool equipped with many small needles will be used to create micro-wounds in the skin. This will stimulate collagen production to help soften signs of aging and create a radiant complexion.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion works by promoting new cells to regenerate quickly, resulting in firmer, more toned, and youthful-looking skin. This procedure can address wrinkles, stretch marks, uneven skin tone, scarring, hyperpigmentation, and more. During treatment, a diamond-tip microdermabrasion wand will be used to exfoliate the top layer of dead skin. Specific skin care products will then be applied to protect your skin.

DiamondGlow

DiamondGlow treatments utilize microdermabrasion using a diamond-tip applicator to gently remove dead, dull skin cells. Following this step, SkinMedica serums are applied. The newly-exfoliated skin allows for deeper and more effective absorption of these serums and improved hydration and other key benefits.

At our office, we provide a number of dermatologist-approved skincare products to help you maintain a beautiful complexion at home. Our skincare products include Zo® Skin Health, SkinCeuticals®, and ISDIN. To learn more about these products, please contact our office today.
