When Will I See Results from Sculptra?

Posted on November 21, 2024March 11, 2025 by Dr. Y Anthony Nakamura

Sculptra is a unique dermal filler that can produce volume over time with long-lasting results. If you’re curious about Sculptra, our team, led by Dr. Anthony Nakamura and Dr. Sameer Halani, can help you learn more about how to rejuvenate your look. Here’s what to know about Sculptra and when you can expect to see results from your treatment.

What is Sculptra?

Aging is the result of a loss of collagen, the connective protein that gives your skin its youthful elasticity and suppleness. As collagen breaks down and is replaced more slowly by your body, gravity can begin to take its toll on your skin. The result is sagging and thinness in areas like the jowls, cheeks, and under the chin.

Sculptra is made with poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), an ingredient that can stimulate the production of collagen. PLLA has been used for decades in surgical wound healing, and when injected into the skin, it can produce completely natural volume. Traditional dermal fillers typically use a gel form of hyaluronic acid, a complex sugar that binds to water and produces instant volume. Although it can be effective, many patients prefer Sculptra’s completely natural approach.

What is Sculptra Used For?

Sculptra can rejuvenate areas of the face that begin to experience signs of aging. Some of the most commonly treated concerns with Sculptra include nasolabial folds, jowls, hollow cheeks, and marionette lines. Sculptra is also sometimes used in the backs of the hands where signs of aging can make them appear ropey, thin, and aged. Once injected, it can begin to stimulate the production of new collagen to plump the skin and provide better support, tightening laxity and creating more tautness. Because of the increased amount of collagen, you may also notice a more glowy, luminous quality to your skin.

When Will I See Results from Sculptra?

You might see some immediate improvement from your Sculptra treatment, but your best results will take weeks to develop. Collagen production is slow, so plan to wait at least 2-3 months to judge your results. For up to six months, your body will continue to make new collagen to replace the Sculptra product as it fades. You can undergo multiple Sculptra treatments if needed, but most patients enjoy results for up to two years with this long-lasting injectable.

Discover the Power of Chemical Peels in Arlington, Texas

Posted on November 4, 2024November 4, 2024 by Dr. Y Anthony Nakamura

When you look in the mirror, do you notice aging, dry, dull, or uneven skin? If so, you are not alone! Our skin is exposed to the sun’s UV rays and other environmental factors daily. Plus, our collagen stores reduce as we age, which can leave us with a dry and dull complexion. This fall, Accent On You invites you to experience the transformative power of chemical peels, a non-invasive treatment that can reveal your skin’s natural radiance.

What Are Chemical Peels?

Chemical peels are cosmetic treatments that use a solution to remove the top layers of skin, revealing fresher, younger-looking skin underneath. These treatments can address a variety of skin concerns, including:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Sun damage
  • Acne scars
  • Hyperpigmentation

At Accent On You, we offer a range of chemical peels, including TCA peels and an assortment of MicroPeels, which are tailored to meet your unique skin needs and goals. In as little as one chemical peel treatment session, you can start to see more evenly toned, glowy skin.

Why Get a Chemical Peel During the Fall Months?

Chemical peels can help to reverse the effects of summer sun exposure, including dark spots and uneven texture. With shorter fall days and slightly cooler temperatures, your skin is less likely to be exposed to harsh sunlight, reducing the risk of further sun damage. Plus, if you start your treatments now, you can achieve glowing skin just in time for holiday gatherings and photos!

Get Your Glow On with Our Chemical Peels

At our medspa, we are proud to offer several types of peels to suit different skin types and concerns. Our experienced skincare professionals will help you choose the right peel for your skin type and goals.

  • TCA Peels: A medium-depth peel that penetrates deeper into the skin to treat moderate wrinkles, sun damage, and hyperpigmentation. TCA peels promote collagen production and skin renewal, resulting in a smoother, more even complexion.
  • MicroPeel: A light chemical peel that combines physical exfoliation with mild acids to remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells, improving skin texture, tone, and clarity. It’s ideal for individuals with sensitive skin or those seeking a gentle treatment.
  • MicroPeel Plus: A step up from the traditional MicroPeel, this treatment uses salicylic acid to target acne, large pores, and rough skin. It helps unclog pores, reduce breakouts, and improve overall skin tone while offering a deeper exfoliation.
  • MicroPeel with Cryogenic Therapy: This treatment includes a MicroPeel followed by cryogenic therapy, where carbon dioxide is applied to the skin to cool and soothe, reduce inflammation, and enhance the peeling process. It’s ideal for improving texture and tone and minimizing pore size.

Benefits of Chemical Peels: Beyond Skin-Deep

The advantages of chemical peels extend far beyond surface-level improvements. Not only will you have boosted confidence levels from your approved skin appearance, but with proper skincare, these results can be long-lasting. For enhanced results, chemical peels can be combined with other treatments such as microdermabrasion, microneedling, and other medspa treatments. This multi-faceted approach can address various skin concerns simultaneously, providing you with optimal results. Our skincare experts can create a comprehensive treatment plan tailored to your skincare needs!

Preparing for Your Chemical Peel

To ensure the best possible outcome from your chemical peel, our team may have you take the following steps prior to your chemical peel treatment. These steps will ensure the best results and minimize any potential side effects.

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning for at least two weeks before your peel.
  • Discontinue the use of retinoids and exfoliating products as directed.
  • Stay hydrated and maintain a healthy skincare routine.
  • Inform us of any medications or skin conditions.

Post-Peel Care for Optimal Results

There are also some steps you should take after your chemical peel to help ensure the best possible results! These steps include:

  • Protect your skin from sun exposure.
  • Keep your skin hydrated.
  • Avoid picking or peeling your skin.
  • Use gentle, fragrance-free skincare products.

The Benefits of a Salt Facial for Spring Skin Renewal

Posted on May 1, 2024 by Dr. Y Anthony Nakamura

As spring approaches, bringing the promise of renewal and rejuvenation, many of us look for ways to refresh our skin to match the season’s vibrancy. A Salt Facial, offered by our professionals at Accent On You, is an excellent option for those seeking a non-invasive solution to enhance their skin’s natural beauty without the downtime associated with surgical procedures.

What is a Salt Facial?

A Salt Facial is a three-step treatment that harnesses the natural benefits of sea salt, ultrasonic technology, and LED phototherapy to rejuvenate the skin. Initially, the skin is exfoliated with natural sea salt, which effectively removes dead skin cells and debris, making it particularly beneficial for addressing acne and congested pores. This step cleanses the skin and prepares it for deeper treatment.

Enhanced Circulation and Rejuvenation

After the exfoliation, ultrasonic technology promotes increased blood circulation and delivers essential nutrients, antioxidants, and hyaluronic acid deep into the skin. This process enhances the skin’s overall health and maximizes skincare products’ effectiveness by allowing deeper penetration.

Collagen Production and Skin Healing

The final step involves LED phototherapy, which stimulates collagen production, reduces inflammation, and soothes redness. This technology targets various skin concerns, including fine lines, wrinkles, and acne, promoting a smoother and more youthful complexion.

Why Opt for a Salt Facial in Spring?

Spring is the perfect time to consider a Salt Facial. The treatment helps shed the winter skin layer, brightening and smoothing the complexion just in time for the lighter, warmer days. With no downtime required, it’s an ideal choice for those with busy schedules who are looking for effective, immediate results.

Long-lasting Benefits

The Salt Facial offers immediate improvement in skin texture and tone and contributes to long-term skin health. Regular treatments can enhance the skin’s appearance over time, making it a worthy investment in your skincare regimen. The clinic recommends treatments for optimal results tailored to individual skin needs and goals.

Personalized Skin Care

At Accent On You, each treatment is customized to meet the client’s needs, ensuring the best possible results. During a consultation, skin specialists will tailor a treatment plan that aligns with your skin type and cosmetic goals.

The Salt Facial is suitable for all skin types and offers a holistic approach to skincare that aligns perfectly with the spirit of spring renewal. Its ability to address a wide range of skin concerns, from aging signs to textural irregularities, makes it a versatile and highly effective choice for anyone looking to rejuvenate their appearance.

It’s a popular choice for those looking to rejuvenate their face without any downtime. This injectable adds volume where needed and is made up of poly-L-lactic acid, which stimulates the skin’s natural collagen production to give you a younger-looking appearance. The results can last for two years or more!

Dysport

Worried about fine lines and wrinkles? Dysport is an injectable neuromodulator that utilizes botulinum toxin type A to temporarily stop the muscles that cause fine lines and wrinkles from contracting. We’ll inject multiple points throughout the face to address any and all areas you’re struggling with.  You’ll notice your lines and wrinkles starting to fade away only a few days after treatment.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are widely used to treat sun damage, brown spots, fine lines and wrinkles, acne, and so much more. In the winter, Accent On You offers several types of chemical peels, including:

  • TCA Peels
  • MicroPeel

Salt Facials

The SaltFacial is a 3-in-1 treatment that exfoliates, increases blood circulation, and stimulates collagen production to give you beautiful, younger-looking, and rejuvenated skin. During the treatment, the esthetician will use the SaltFacial device to gently blast salt across the skin. It’s very similar to microdermabrasion but using all-natural sea salt. Ultrasonic energy will also be used to stimulate blood flow, and  LED Phototherapy is used to stimulate collagen production, target acne, and soothe inflammation and redness.

Microneedling

Microneedling is a treatment for stimulating collagen production. It involves making micro-wounds in the skin, which kickstart collagen production and the body’s natural healing process. It can treat fine lines and wrinkles, sagging skin, and uneven skin tone and texture. The Salt Facial vs. Microdermabrasion: Which is Right for Me?

Posted on August 25, 2023April 4, 2024 by Dr. Y Anthony Nakamura

Is your skin losing its luster and vitality? Salt Facials and microdermabrasion stand out as powerful skin rejuvenation treatments, and at Accent On You, we offer both. But how do you know which to choose? Both therapies have unique advantages, so it’s critical to know the differences to determine which one will meet your needs.

Let’s take a look at the two treatments so you can make the right decision for you.

What Is A Salt Facial?

The Salt Facial is a three-step procedure used to rejuvenate the skin. It combines natural sea salt, ultrasonic laser energy, and LED phototherapy. It starts with the application of pure sea salt to the skin. As it’s gently blasted across the face, it will remove any debris and dead skin cells and address acne and congested pores.

Next, ultrasonic energy increases blood circulation and nourishes the skin with nutrients, hyaluronic acid, and antioxidants.

Lastly, LED phototherapy is used to rejuvenate skin cells, further improve circulation, and provide you with glowing radiant skin. It also targets acne-causing bacteria and increases collagen production.

The treatment can work to address issues like acne scarring, stretch marks, enlarged pores, fine lines and wrinkles, uneven texture, uneven pigment, and sun damage.

What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a specialized procedure that removes excess sebum and contaminants from the environment from the skin. The process starts with a gentle cleansing and then a second cleanser with an exfoliating scrub. A light lactic acid is then applied to the skin and allowed to dry. From there, a diamond-tip microdermabrasion wand exfoliates the top layer of dead skin and removes excess sebum. Specific skincare products are then applied to the skin along with sunscreen.

The Differences Between Salt Facial and Microdermabrasion

There are a number of differences between a Salt Facial and microdermabrasion. While they may address similar skin issues, they are two very different skin treatments.

Exfoliation method

Salt Facial

The salt facial uses pure sea salt that is gently blasted over the skin to exfoliate it. The treatment helps address acne and congested skin by efficiently eliminating dead skin cells and surface debris and cleaning out clogged pores.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion uses a diamond-tip wand to exfoliate the top layer of dead skin. It removes excess sebum and environmental contaminants and cleans out clogged pores.

Nourishment and Replenishment

Salt Facial

The Salt Facial uses ultrasonic energy to provide minerals and antioxidants to the face. The treatment also improves the efficacy of any skincare products you’re using.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion does not include a unique phase for supplying the skin with extra nutrients or antioxidants.

Collagen Stimulation

Salt Facial

The Salt Facial uses LED Phototherapy to treat numerous skin issues and signs of aging while encouraging collagen production in the skin.

Microdermabrasion

While microdermabrasion does not include LED phototherapy, the process does stimulate collagen production and improves and increases elastin in the skin.

Treatment Frequency

Salt Facial

How often you should have a Salt Facial varies depending on the skin’s needs and concerns, but it’s recommended to receive the treatment at least once a month.

Microdermabrasion

How often you get microdermabrasion treatment depends on your skin, your goals,  and what your provider advises, but the typical recommendation is to get microdermabrasion every four to six weeks for three to six sessions.

Who is a Candidate for Salt Facial or Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion candidates are people over 18 years old who haven’t recently been exposed to the sun or who don’t have tanned skin. We also recommend avoiding the use of photosensitive cosmetics or prescriptions for two weeks before and two weeks following your microdermabrasion treatment.

Salt Facial candidates are any individuals with early signs of aging, acne scars, stretch marks, uneven tone or texture, or age spots.
